We enjoyed a wwonderful presence of the Holy Spirit in the worship service on Sunday a.m. June 3rd, led by a beautiful Zambian family (missionaries to Plano). We felt “at home” in the multi-cultural context of the congregation, and of course the presence of the Lord. Pastor Brian McLane and his lovely wife graciously hosted us. Cyndie and I shared in a “window” in the English-language service and then went to the Spanish congregation meeting simultaneously where the service had already begun. The members of the Hispanic congregation are an integral part of NorthPointe church and their pastors who hail from Monterrey, Mexico, are associate pastors on the staff. I enjoyed preaching in Spanish and the energetic response of the people. Afterwards we were taken out to eat Italian with the pastoral staff. The associate pastor and Adult Sunday School class teacher (a veteran ordained minister) told us how that he had also been one of my Dad’s students at Southwestern and had been greatly impacted by Dad’s book, By His Stripes. Pastor Brian had also been one of Dad’s students.
We are very grateful for NorthPointe church which has been one of our faithful supporters in our missions ministry for a number of years now. Thank you pastors Brian and Oscar for your wonderful hospitality and your sacrificial giving. We will continue to pray that God will give you many souls in the Plano area and the Metroplex.
