We had a wonderful time of sharing with Pastor & Mrs. Woosley and their congregation of Agape Assembly of God in Eldorado, Texas, on Sunday May 6th. Eldorado was once an oil boom town. We were blessed to be able to stay that Saturday night in the beautiful, modern apartment at the church. It seems that they had thought of every little detail. We were refreshed in the morning and shared in the morning worship service. On the first Sunday everyone brings food and eats at church. The interesting thing is that after lunch everyone gathers again in the auditorium for the “evening” service, just like the old “dinner on the grounds Camp Meetings”! We had another blessed time of sharing from the Word and about our missions ministry. It was a very hot day – Saturday it was over 100º when we came through Abilene. It was supposed to get to 99º in San Angelo. However, when we arrived in San Angelo for the evening service there were some thunder showers and a cloud cover which helped. Brother Woosley is originally from Killeen, Texas, and also pastored in East Texas. We appreciate their faithfulness and missionary vision as evidenced by their sacrificial support. Thanks again Agape A/G. We are praying that you see many souls come into the Kingdom.
West Texas & Plains District of the A/G
A huge “Thank You!” GRACIAS to the new Hispanic District headquarted in Lubbock, Texas, the West Texas & Plains District A/G. We ate lunch together with District Superintendent and pastor Zeke Pecina and his lovely wife Carolyn in Abilene on Thursday, May 26th, after our Missions Revival services at 1st A/G in Haskell. The Pecinas are a gracious and gifted couple who have been very successful in their pastorate and have a great heart for missions. At the end of our lunch, brother Pecina invited us to come to their very first General Presbytery meeting of their brand new District which would be meeting in Lubbock on Tuesday. In 40 years of foreign missions service, this is a FIRST for us!
We learned at the Hispanic Fly-In in Houston that there is a great desire for more couples in their churches to be called of God to the Mission Field. We know that the number one recruitment method that the Holy Spirit is using is that of a missionary preaching a missionary message in the local church. We have a strong desire to be used of the Lord so that He will call more laborers into the Harvest. THANK YOU WEST TEXAS & PLAINS DISTRICT.
We were humbled and at the same time delighted. So after traveling back to Waxahachie for weekend ministry in Maypearl and Athens, we traveled to Lubbock where the District put us up in the Holiday Inn. We were asked to address their meeting on Tuesday morning. Later they shared with us that they had been discussing different ways in which they could promote missions in their District. It is one of their top priorities – Praise the Lord! After sharing our hearts in a wonderfully receptive atmosphere, we broke for lunch – Cyndie went with the Ladies and had another wonderful time of fellowship and sharing; I went with the men for fried catfish and great conversation centering on what God is doing and the challenge which is before us. To top it off, they gave us a generous offering! What a wonderful blessing and one more demonstration of God’s provision and the doors which He is opening for ministry.
Calvary Temple, Athens (TX)
On Sunday morning, May 29th it was my joy to be with a dear friend and Bible College classmate Arnold Walker and his wife Judy for the Adult Sunday School class and morning worship service. Judy ministry in song and at the piano blessed us. Pastor Arnold shared that they had just received word that their church was 106th in per capita giving to Missions out of 12,500 churches of the A/G in the U.S. Congratulations!! We enjoyed our time of sharing as the Lord blessed the ministry of the Word. I could not pass up the temptation to share in Sunday School about “Proclaiming the Gospel in a Pagan Society” using Acts 17 as a text on the occasion of the Apostle Paul’s visit to Athens 🙂 We enjoyed the fellowship after the service as well. God’s people at Calvary Temple again responded with generosity proving again their great heart for Missions! Thank you pastor Arnold and congregation. We look forward to many more years of partnership for winning the Lost, discipling believers and Training ministers and leaders for the Kingdom of God.
First A/G, Maypearl
Cyndie ministered on Sunday morning at the First Assembly of God in Maypearl with Pastors Bob and Sharon Shelton. First A/G has faithfully supported our ministry for a number of years now just like clockwork. There are some churches like theirs which you can depend on rain or shine. It was such a joy to find out (and I can’t help believe that it has something to do with the faith they have exercised in sacrificial giving to missions) that God has worked a tremendous miracle for them in acquiring a beautiful new church facility through a generous donation. Cyndie was really blessed in her time of sharing in the full service for morning worship and the people responded to the ministry need with typical generosity. Thanks you so much Sheldons and 1st A/G in Maypearl. It is truly a joy to co-minister with partners such as yourselves!
Missions Revival, 1st A/G Haskell
It was our great privilege to be able to minister at First A/G in Haskell, Texas, in a Missions Revival from Sunday evening, May 22nd through Wednesday, May 25th. The Amburns have been a tremendous blessing to us personally and to our ministry for 40 years. We truly appreciate their servant’s heart and their sincere desire to follow God’s will and to see Him move once again in a mighty way in their church and the Abilene Section which he has served so faithfully as presbyter. We were able to minister to wonderful, faithful people of God in their church. We also enjoyed the visit from the Assembly of God in Stamford and First A/G in Sweetwater. What a marvelous presence of the Holy Spirit in the services and around the altar. God dealt with all of us in renewing our vision and burden for the lost souls. Thank you Bro. & Sis. Amburn for your hospitality and your friendship. Thank you for being the wonderful man and woman of God which you are and for the opportunity to minister to your people. Thank you for your faithful giving and support for these last 40 years!
